Slitting scale-up without surprises
Edge quality is notoriously sensitive to scale — a knife geometry and tension regime that cuts cleanly on a narrow lab web can behave differently at production width and speed. IMC pilot slitters close that gap: production-representative slitting with the same slit head and tension architecture as the full-scale machine, so knife settings and tension regimes proven at pilot scale transfer predictably.

Standard pilot slitter capability
Cut quality: burr-free demonstrated on copper and aluminum foil. Shafts: cantilevered available for fast roll change. Full details in the specifications table below.

Standard options
Calender/Slitter combination — the same slitting section, integrated upstream
The pilot slitter's cartridge head, trim handling, and differential rewind architecture is also available built directly into the IMC pilot calender web path — densification and slitting to finished width in one machine, one tension system, one HMI. For programs that need both capabilities, the combination eliminates a second machine and the roll handling step between processes.

Electrode slitting validation — qualify burr and edge quality on Cu and Al foil before cell production. Qualification sample production — finished slit rolls at customer-deliverable quality. Knife and tension development — establish the geometry and regime your production slitter will run. Pre-production converting — standing narrow-lot capacity while the production line is built.
Not just electrodes
Electrode work is where pilot slitting demands are sharpest — but the same machine develops slitting for medical films and PTFE membranes, optical and display films, thin metal foils, nonwovens, and coated specialty webs. If edge quality at scale is uncertain for your material, the pilot slitter resolves it before production commitment.
From pilot to production
IMC production slitters — duplex or turret rewind, automatic knife positioning, inline or standalone — are engineered on the same architecture your pilot settings were developed on.
